Delegates will take part in a tour of the Royal Borough, full of exploration and enjoyment - starting with a walking tour of historic Woolwich which fuelled the rise in the Cooperative Movement across London and the South-East. Visiting key landmarks and buildings, you will see first-hand an area steeped in cooperative history.
Travel by coach to Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will be immersed in the rich history and stunning architecture of this iconic location renowned for its maritime history and architectural splendour. Here, you will welcomed by guides from the Greenwich Tour Guides Association for a walking tour.
Marvel at the beauty of the Old Royal Naval College, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, and visit the magnificent Painted Hall, often referred to as the 'Sistine Chapel of the UK’. Be the first to see Luke Jerram’s newest and most ambitious design, Helios, at its London premiere here, a seven-meter celestial artwork bringing light and wonder to the Painted Hall.
The tour will take you past the historic Cutty Sark, the world’s last surviving 19th-century tea clipper, and to the elegant Queen’s House, part of Royal Museums Greenwich.
Complete your visit with a river trip on board Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, which will take you to historic Woolwich where the conference opens at 2pm.
9.15am | Tour of Woolwich |
11.00am | Arrive at Greenwich, coach drop off at Old Royal Naval College, west gate. Split into two groups for walking tour. Group 1: Old Royal Naval College and Cutty Sark (exterior), Queen's House Group 2: Queen's House, Cutty Sark (exterior) and Old Royal Naval College |
1.15pm | Regroup at Greenwich pier. A packed lunch will be provided for the return to Woolwich |
1.30pm | Depart for river trip on board a chartered Uber Boat by Thames Clippers |
1.45pm | Arrive Woolwich pier, at the Royal Arsenal - a few minutes' walk to Woolwich Works for the Conference |
2.00pm | Conference opens |
