National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum welcomes guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs across all sites.

Visitor Assistants are trained in disability awareness.

Please ask a member of staff for any assistance you may need during your visit.

All floors of the Museum have good lift access.

All sites have accessible toilets and wheelchairs can be borrowed from the information desk on the day of your visit.

These must remain on site and be returned to the original collection point at the end of your visit.

Cutty Sark

For safety reasons, wheelchair spaces for Cutty Sark are limited to three visitors at any one time.

The original ship structure restricts the size of the lift on board, therefore mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on Cutty Sark.

Manual wheelchairs and most powered wheelchairs can access the ship: please note that the lift dimensions are 1100mm wide x 1480mm deep.

Manual wheelchairs can be pre-bookedbefore your visit.

The Master’s Saloon, cabins and anchor deck are not wheelchair accessible, but virtual access is provided to these spaces.

Lifts offer access to all other areas of the ship, including the Main Deck as well as the Sammy Ofer Gallery beneath the ship.

Please also be aware there are steps and gradients in Cutty Sark Gardens on the approach to the ship.

There is a step-free route from King William Walk and Greenwich Pier.

Royal Observatory

Having passed through the gates you enter the Meridian Garden.

If you take the path to the right, a ramp provides access to the Meridian Admissions Desk, which leads to the Astronomer’s Garden, Meridian Courtyard and Meridian Line; Meridian Observatory and Flamsteed House.

The left-hand path leads to the Astronomy Centre and the Planetarium.

Both routes are fully accessible.

The older Royal Observatory buildings to the north of the site have restricted access.

Flamsteed House apartments are not recommended for wheelchair-users due to the narrow interior.

The Octagon Room is only accessible via a staircase, as is the Great Equatorial Telescope.

Access to the Time Galleries in Flamsteed House is by an external lift in the Astronomer’s Garden. You will need to press the bell by the doors for access.

Queen’s House

Located close to the National Maritime Museum, The Queen’s House has good paths which connect the two.

All floors of the Museum and The Queen’s House have good lift access.

Please note that due to the historic nature of the Queen’s House, visitors using mobility scooters may need to seek assistance from staff.

The Peter Harrison Planetarium

Wheelchair spaces at the Planetarium are limited and pre-booking is recommended.

The Astronomy Centre galleries and the Planetarium are fully accessible via a lift.

Mobility scooters may be too large for lift access and visitors are requested to approach a member of staff on duty for assistance.

Old Royal Naval College

There are accessible toilets in the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre and the Old Brewery courtyard.

These can be accessed via the lift to the King William Undercroft, or, during the week via the ramp from College Way into the Queen Mary Undercroft.

Your guide or assistance dog is welcome in all areas of the ORNC, including the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre, Painted Hall and Chapel.

The O2

The O2 is fully accessible. Lifts and public areas are designed for wheelchairs.

Wheelchairs are available in The O2 and there’s help to get around if you need it.

Assistance dogs are welcome in all venues. Water bowls are available too. Just ask.

Personal assistants can get one free ticket to any event when a disabled visitor pays full price.

Let us know that you’re bringing your PA when you book. And book in advance to make sure you get the tickets you need.

There’s an accessible toilet block under the cinema escalators.

The bars and restaurants also have accessible toilets and accessible lifts.

If you’ve got a ticket for accessible seating, you can use any entrance.

People with mobility issues may find it easier to use Entrance B.

The main concourses are level and step free and there are accessible lifts spread over all levels.

Our accessible bays are on Level 1 with seating available for friends, family and PAs.

The bays are raised above the fixed seating areas. That means you can stay seated and still have a clear view of the action. Even if the audience is standing.

Each bay has a steward who’s there to help if you need anything.

Pre book disabled access parking for £13.50. On the day it’s £15.00.

Up at The O2

As a general rule, you can complete the climb if you can walk unaided. Up at The O2 also run wheelchair climbs.

Wheelchair climbs take up to three hours. Tickets are from £30.00 and include a free ticket for a personal assistant/carer. You can also buy tickets for up to eight friends and family members.

You’ll get a special wheelchair that you’ll need to move yourself into. If you can’t, a personal assistant or family member can help.

You’ll climb with four guides who will use a pulley system to help you up and down. On the way down, you’ll descend backwards.

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers

You can bring a Guide or Assistance dog onboard with you without charge. We welcome all Guide and Assistance dogs.

All of the boats have audible next stop announcements onboard, letting passengers know which stop is coming up.

The piers have visual next boat information, letting passengers know when the next boat will arrive and where it is going to.

We have introduced a Mobility Scooter Recognition Scheme which has been designed to help anybody with a mobility scooter who wishes to use Thames Clippers’ vessels.

All piers are wheelchair accessible except London Bridge, Wandsworth Riverside Quarter and Cadogan piers. Ramps are used for boarding.

All boats except the Star, Storm and Sky Clippers have accessible toilets and larger boats have baby changing tables.

London Cable Car

Access to the London Cable Car is step-free, with staff present at both terminals to offer assistance to passengers.

Cabins can take wheelchairs and single battery power source motorised wheelchairs, as long as they are no wider than 80 centimetres.

Due to weight and size restrictions of the cabins, larger wheelchairs and motorized scooters are not permitted on London Cable Car.

There are not accessible toilets within this venue designated for public use. There is a lift for public use. The lift does have a visual floor indicator. The lift does have an audible announcer.

The controls for the lift are within reach for a wheelchair user.

The lighting level in the lift is bright.

Docklands Light Railway

All DLR stations have lift or ramp access to the platforms, with level access onto the trains.

All lifts have alarms enabled, which allow you to talk directly with a member of DLR staff should you experience any problems.

Platforms are as level with trains as possible for easy access.

The gap between the platform edge and the train is approximately 7.5cm wide and the step up/down from the platform to the train is approximately 5cm high.

Most wheelchair users find boarding/alighting smoothest with the largest wheel first – this may mean reversing as appropriate.

Maryon Wilson Animal Park

This information is for the entrance located on Thorntree Road, opposite Pound Park Road.

There is level access into the venue.

The main doors open (no doors).

The door opening is 120cm (3ft 11in) wide.

There is a ramp or slope to access the Charlton Road entrance.

The ramp or slope is located after the entrance.

The ramp or slope is steep.

The ramp or slope is permanent.

The Fan Museum

Wall mounted rails are available. As you face the toilet the wall mounted grab rails are on both sides.
There is a shelf within the accessible toilet. The shelf is not higher than 100cm (3ft 3in).
There are mirrors in the accessible toilet.
The accessible toilet is located in the shop to the right of the service counter.

There is level access to the accessible toilet. This is a unisex toilet.

A key is not required for the accessible toilet.

Severndroog Castle

Visitors please note there is a spiral staircase and 86 steps to the top.

We are a listed building so wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor (the tearoom) via a stair climber.

On the ground floor you can access a TV screen linked to a webcam on the viewing platform on the roof and the spectacular views across London.

Eltham Palace and Gardens

You may bring a companion or carer in for free to help you get more out of your visit.

Most areas of the house are accessible by wheelchair. Approx. ten disabled parking spaces located 10 metres from reception.

There are extensive grounds and gardens with opportunities for a sensory experience. Guide dogs welcome.
