London favourite Greenwich Market was established by Royal Charter in 1700 and originally sold fruit, vegetables and livestock. Nowadays it’s the centre of Greenwich shopping life, open daily with shops and stalls all undercover, packed with art, antiques, fashion, jewellery, handmade gifts and delicious street food from all over the world. To complete a fabulous day, there’s an array of delicious international street food and a covered seating area in the Food Court.

If visiting Greenwich to shop on the weekend, then there are some great independently-run markets to catch. If you have a curiosity for collectibles, there’s a vintage market in Greenwich and if you love to browse fresh organic and locally-sourced produce, then head to the farmers markets at Blackheath on Sundays and Royal Arsenal Woolwich on the second and last Saturday of the month.

Greenwich Vintage Market has a wonderful mixture of antiques, collectables, objet d'art, jewellery, furniture and arts and crafts across 40 stalls. They also have a beautiful vintage tea hut serving lovely afternoon teas.

Blackheath is a busy hub of café-culture and home to an excellent Sunday Farmer’s Market, where you can find lots of delicious local produce like honey, raw milk, brown shrimps and seasonal specials including Kentish asparagus in spring and cherries in July.

Royal Arsenal Riverside in Woolwich host their very own Farmers' Market, located on Artillery Square, which provides quality locally sourced artisan food for residents and visitors to buy on the day. Traders range from bakers, greengrocers, cheesemongers, florists, fresh fruit and more. Nearby, Eltham Producers’ Market in Passey Place has regular stalls showcasing home-grown, local produce that regularly attracts hundreds of visitors and is a must for foodies and market fans.
