About
Across the river from Greenwich, on the curve of the river Thames, London Docklands stretch from the Isle of Dogs to the East End. Up until the 1970s the Docks were still one of the industrial hubs of the UK, but there aren’t many ships about these days.
The area is now dominated by the sparkling towers of Canary Wharf, London’s new centre of finance and journalism. The shopping malls there have grown up over the last decade and effortlessly swap the mighty crush of lunchtime office workers with the busy and relaxed shopping of the weekend.
The Museum of London Docklands is there as well and the unexpected countryside of Mudchute City Farm is just down the road. Further to the east at the opposite end of the IFS Cloud Cable Car from Greenwich Peninsula is the Crystal and ExCeL London exhibition Centre, one of the most most flexible event space and the home to London’s only International Convention Centre ICC London.
Try taking a trip from Greenwich Peninsula on the IFS Cloud Cable Car across the river and working your way through the fastest growing part of London on the DLR. It’s an interesting trip – just make sure you come back!
