Join guide John Wilson for a British Sign Language (BSL) tour of the portraits in the Queen's House

About

Uncover the treasures of the Queen's House portrait collection on this British Sign Language (BSL) tour, led by historian and guide John Wilson.

Discover artworks depicting elite officers and ordinary sailors, as well as a long-lost portrait by the acclaimed 18th-century painter Thomas Gainsborough.

On the tour, you will learn more about Queen Henrietta Maria (1609-69), who played a crucial role in the development of the Queen’s House, and view the Indian miniature of Zeenat Mahal (1823–1886), wife and favourite of the King of Delhi and the last Mughal Emperor. Zeenat is the first South Asian Queen to be represented in Royal Museums Greenwich's collection.

You will also see a pastel portrait of an officer in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (Wrens). Acquired by Royal Museums Greenwich in 2022, this portrait is a striking work of art, full of character and personality.

NOTE: This tour is designed for D/deaf people who are BSL users. There is no English voiceover.
