About

Blackheath Halls is one of south east London’s most remarkable places to see music and performances of the highest quality. A lovely, listed, late-Victorian building, it’s London’s oldest purpose-built cultural complex.

Combining a 500-seat Great Hall and the more intimate, 160-seat Hearn Recital Room, Blackheath Halls hosts productions from renowned companies like the English National Opera and London Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside family theatre, musical theatre and comedy. It also runs a community engagement programme including a youth choir, gospel chorus and more, and hires out space for performances, rehearsals, film shoots and private events.

Only 20 minutes by train from Central London, Blackheath Halls sits in the heart of historic Blackheath Village.

The Venue
Blackheath Halls is available to hire for performancesrehearsals, filming and private events. It offers a beautiful and unique venue for all purposes, including conferences, performances, recordings, rehearsals and weddings.

Performance Spaces:
The 500 seater Great Hall  boasts a beautiful high ceiling which provides some of the best acoustics in the United Kingdom for large scale orchestral performances. The venue regularly welcomes world-renowned orchestras and ensembles for recordings and rehearsals including the English National Opera and London Philharmonic Orchestra | Philharmonia Orchestra | Britten Sinfonia Aurora Orchestra | Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment

The Hearn Recital Room is the smaller space and seats 160 people, used throughout the year for more intimate performances such as classical recitals, comedy, folk and children’s theatre.
