Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG) looking for a Security Officer to join their team.
The Security Officer’s role is to ensure effective security cover across the Museum sites and outstations to safeguard the Museum’s buildings, Cutty Sark, the collections, staff, and members of the public visiting the sites. Security Officers also provide important customer service duties and ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed. Key responsibilities include efficient monitoring of and responding to intruder alarms and CCTV; responding effectively to emergency situations and supporting disaster and evacuation plans; and locking grounds and buildings as required. Further responsibilities include managing car park access and issuing keys, as well as providing site security patrols and static stewarding.

The successful candidate will be reliable, responsible and trustworthy; able to remain calm and confident in emergency situations and respond as required, with the ability to take on and follow information relating to systems and procedures. The postholder will take a proactive approach to security and safety and have an awareness of Crime and Terrorist threats, along with a positive approach to working in team situations, and the ability to work alone for extended periods. Computer literacy, an understanding of good customer care, and good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The postholder must also be able to work a 12 hour shift rota, and live within a reasonable commuting distance.
This is a permanent, full time role in band 8 – Assistants. Net working hours (i.e. excluding 1 hour per day in rest breaks) will be an average of 38.5 per week, working a shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off, of 12 hours duration from 6.15am to 6.15pm and 6.15pm to 6.15am, including Bank Holidays. In certain circumstances you are also required to work such additional hours as are necessary for the proper performance of your duties. These hours may be changed with reasonable notice.
