The exhibition includes over 150 of the finest portraits from Henry VII to Elizabeth II, across five royal dynasties, bringing together works from the National Portrait Gallery, Royal Museums Greenwich and private collections in a truly landmark collaboration. Once you’ve rubbed shoulders with royalty next up you can explore more of the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Fancy exploring the neighbourhood again? Take a guided tour and you’ll soon be refreshed strolling along the riverside walks, for those familiar with the Royal Borough it’s a chance to deepen your knowledge and find out more and what you may have missed, including the iconic and less well-known buildings. For those who are new to Greenwich, a guided walk will fully immerse you the rich history in world-class surroundings, from the Neoclassical to the cutting-edge architecture.
If you’re in need of some light refreshment during your tour you can weave through the food stalls of Greenwich Market or try the much-loved local staple of traditional pie, mash and liquor at Goddard’s of Greenwich. Head for the Tasting Rooms (Open Friday & Saturday) at the Meantime Brewery, you can also enjoy a mini-tour of the brewery and a craft beer tasting session.
For something completely new, take a stroll along The Tide at Greenwich Peninsula. Initially 1km in length, running from Peninsula Square to the river and along the riverside, The Tide will eventually stretch 5km in length around the whole Peninsula. Dubbed the ‘New London’ it’s a place inventing itself as the capital’s most boldly modern landscape, transforming the riverside location into a cultural hot spot with parks, art trails and outdoor spaces, so if you haven’t visited for a while, take a tour and be prepared to be amazed by the evolution of the Peninsula.
Make the day last even longer with a trip on board City Cruises or a flight on the Emirates Air Line cable car for a different view of Greenwich. See the lights of the world-famous river come alive on an evening London Dinner Cruise, wine, dine and dance your way down the Thames, soaking up the spectacular views whilst being entertained by a live performer.
Or experience awe-inspiring city views by air from an Emirates Air Line cable car. At just under 300ft it’s the highest observation point over the river, watch the Thames twinkle and the city's iconic skyline light up as you relax and take in aerial views of the capital.
