It’s About Time To Reconnect & Visit Greenwich

A family at the Peter Harrison Planetarium in Greenwich.

If you’re after a day out that’s fun for the grown-ups as well as suitable for little ones
it’s about time you reconnected with family & visited Greenwich. Create endless memories as a family – even big kids will want to keep going away with mum & dad!

Get ready to banish the school holiday boredom & mix it up. It’s time to set sail and ride the waves of history on a family break to Greenwich, ideal for outdoor and indoor voyages…  Make sure to share your time with us on social media using the #ItsGreenwichTime hashtag!

Morning

For the energetic families with early risers why not kick your day off by jumping aboard City Cruises to see the city in a different way, followed by an invigorating walk-through leafy Greenwich Park to the Royal Observatory. Reward yourself with breakfast on the terrace of the Astronomy Café while you sit back and enjoy the stunning views over Greenwich Park. Now you’re ready for your Greenwich day out, ticking off two of our Royal Borough’s best attractions - Royal Observatory and Cutty Sark! Where better to spend some treasured family time than at the home of time itself, the Royal Observatory. Grab an iconic selfie for the photo album on the historic Prime Meridian of the World and journey through the Universe without even leaving Greenwich at one of the incredible Planetarium shows. Stand beneath the magnificent onion dome and marvel at one of the biggest telescopes in the world and the world-famous Harrison’s Clocks up close. With so much to explore you can easily lose track of time!

After all that space-themed fun your Greenwich escapade continues onboard the majestic Cutty Sark tea clipper. Walk the main deck with the kids as they play captain with the ship's wheel in their hands, meet the cast of colourful characters, play interactive games, and soak up the views of London’s skyline. Then it’s time to head below deck to reach up and touch the famous copper hull of the ship and see how the crew lived and worked at sea.

Afternoon

With morning conquered, grab some lunch at the Cutty Sark Café or the bright and airy Parkside Café at the National Maritime Museum with expansive views of Greenwich Park. Once the troops are ready for action, your next adventure is on Uber Boat by Thames Clippers. Head to North Greenwich from Greenwich Pier and admire the sights as you speed towards The O2 and the Emirates Air Line in just 8 minutes. Sit out on the rear deck and feel the wind in your hair while your little humans get excited for what's in store.

Evening

As the day draws to a close, it's time to squeeze in some more fun at The O2. Grab the latest fashion bargains at ICON Outlet; go trampolining at Oxygen Free jumping; catch the latest movie at Europe's biggest cinema; have some footballing fun at TOCA Social and eat, drink and snack at a whole host of amazing restaurants. The cherry on top of an action-packed day just has to be a Sunset Climb of the iconic roof at Up at The O2 - there's nothing quite like it!

Extra Time?

Head to Eltham Palace & Gardens. From medieval palace and Tudor royal residence to a private Art Deco home, it was once the childhood home of Henry VIII and later reimagined by Stephen & Virginia Courtauld in the 30s. Perfectly preserved by English Heritage, it’s a wondrous place for a family visit.
