Escape to Boundless Kingdoms

Escape to Boundless Kingdoms

Day One: Afternoon

Start your escape to Greenwich by traversing the world-famous river Thames on a fun and engaging experience that will reignite your mind, body and soul! Book on City Cruises or Uber Boat by Thames Clippers from piers in central London, to witness iconic sights and the sounds of the Capital from the river and arrive straight into Greenwich in 30-40 minutes. For train lovers, head for London Bridge station and take the mainline train to Greenwich. It only takes 10 minutes!

From the station, take a short stroll to the home of time and the place where travelling to boundless kingdoms was made significantly easier! Situated at the top of Greenwich Park, the Royal Observatory was founded by King Charles II in 1675 to study the stars and improve navigation at sea. Follow in the footsteps of Her Majesty Elizabeth II and stand astride the dividing point between the eastern and western hemispheres - the Prime Meridian of the world. Even the Queen couldn’t resist a selfie here! There’s lots more to see here at the home of time, including a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite, the Great Equatorial Telescope and the Greenwich Time Ball, which drops every day at 1pm.

Day Two

Being Royalty is as much about mindfulness as it is about style so after all of yesterday’s excitement, Greenwich Market is a must do. You’ll feel instantly connected to the community on a Greenwich Food Tour, sampling dishes from all the corners of the earth, experiencing the buzz and excitement from all the stalls selling sustainable and feel-good gourmet delights from boundless kingdoms, all under one roof!

Follow-up your food tour with an enthralling sightseeing cruise from Greenwich to Westminster (another Royal Borough!) along the river Thames, before jumping on a hop-on hop-off open top bus ride, being chauffer-driven past some of London’s most famous landmarks including Westminster Abbey; Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament; the iconic London Eye; the city’s biggest skyscraper, The Shard; Buckingham Palace, the majestic St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and many more!

Looking to explore further?

Greenwich makes the perfect ‘green space’ base camp for exploring the Capital’s other World Heritage Sites – The Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and Saint Margaret's Church, The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and the Tower of London – along with the Royal Boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames and Windsor & Maidenhead

You’ve ticked Westminster and the Tower of London off your list on your open top bus ride, so start your next escape walking through the underground passage, Greenwich Foot Tunnel, beside Cutty Sark, to Island Gardens. Make sure you look back for an iconic and unforgettable view of Maritime Greenwich before taking a ride on the Docklands Light Railway. Take a seat at the front in you can – you’ll feel like you're steering the driverless train amongst the skyscrapers!). Alight at Bank and follow the signs to Monument station where you can hop on the District line to Westminster for the Churchill War Rooms or Richmond for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Or take the Central line to Queensway to discover the incredible Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens.
