A musical journey exploring 600 years of musical history in 90 minutes

About

A musical feast exploring 600 years of musical history in 90 minutes. Beginning in the Middle Ages and ending in the 20th century (and incorporating everything in between) this fun and fast-moving show is a whistle-stop tour of Western musical history.

Featuring long forgotten songs and tunes, and even a joke or two, take in the fun as modern-day balladeers GreenMatthews paint a vibrant and vivid picture of the history of music that covers the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Victorian periods, and much more.

Complete with a bewildering array of instruments such as virginal, rauschpfeife and lute (and that’s just the first 100 years!), A Brief History of Music uses tunes, songs and humour to take you on a musical journey from which you won’t want to return.

About GreenMatthews
Chris Green and Sophie Matthews are modern-day balladeers, specialising in telling stories through song. Taking their cue from ancient troubadour tradition, they have extensively toured with their self-created shows across the UK and Europe. Although their music and tales are rooted in the past, their goal is to create performances that are accessible and delightful for contemporary audiences.
