Automata Carrousel is a magical toyshop of the imagination fusing engineering with poetry and sure to awaken the child in everyone.

About

Automata Carrousel is part of our partnership highlighting Flanders (the Dutch-speaking northern part of Belgium) as one of the world-leading producers of innovative theatre and performing arts. Focus on Flanders is a two-year partnership between GDIF and the Diplomatic Representation of Flanders to the UK, designed to inspire cross-cultural working between the culturally vibrant and diverse destinations of Flanders and London.

Step inside and marvel as this intricate rotating carousel evokes memories of the fairgrounds of the past. Beautifully carved by Flemish artist Geert Hautekiet from pear and lime wood, audiences can interact by operating levers to set in motion a series of mechanical stories. A magical toyshop of the imagination fusing engineering with poetry and sure to awaken the child in everyone.
