Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Canteen Food Hall

About

This Lunar New Year, Canteen Food Hall takes you on a vibrant journey celebrating East and Southeast Food and Culture. Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy the tastes of the East, sip on special Sake cocktails and join traditional workshops to welcome the Year of the Dragon, a time of new beginnings, prosperity, and good fortune.

A particular focus will be on Canteen traders Juk Pou, who are London’s very first congee and youtiao street food concept and Choy House, who showcase freshly made Vietnamese food with powerful flavours. Guests who visit Juk Pou can tuck into dishes such as Pork & Vegetable or Chicken & Mushroom congee bowls topped with Chinese pickles, spring onions and coriander or opt for a sweet version with their Multi-Grain Congee, a sweet congee made with eight different whole grains and dried fruits. Choy House’s celebration of Vietnamese food includes Tofu Banh Mi, Pork Singapore Noodles, Beef Pho and Steamed Chicken Buns.

To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, Canteen Food Hall will be giving away a free fortune cookie (from the 9th-11th February) to every customer who buys a main meal from any of the traders or drinks from the bar.

The bar at Canteen has also partnered with London Craft Sake company, Kanpai, an independent Sake brewery and taproom in South London to create special Sake cocktails throughout the celebrations. Cocktails include Session Sake - Plum & Gooseberry, light, fresh and sparkling. A naturally fermented Junmai Sake, brewed from rice, infused with ripe plum and tangy gooseberry and Yuzu & Cucumber, an easy-drinking sake concoction with aromatic cucumber and refreshing zesty citrus.
