Nothing beats the anticipation of a Christmas lights switch-on event. Join fellow Christmas lovers and festive-spirit revellers as they come together for one of these exciting moments and get ready to count down together. Five, four, three, two, one… and presto!
Saturday 16 November, 12 - 6pm
Head to Eltham’s Passey Place for an afternoon of Christmas delight this Saturday. There will be free activities for all the family from wreath-making to TARU Arts drumming performances and the Jolly Good Timers, Boppin’ Bunnies, and Festive Hits with Sabrina Bell. Before the Christmas lights switch on at 5pm, you’ll hear the Rock Choir singing some classics and the kids will delight in meeting the light up fairies, the Grinch and Elf on from 4.30pm.
Wednesday 20 November 4 - 6pm
Join the Greenwich community as it comes together for the Greenwich Market’s annual Lantern Parade and Light Switch-On taking place on Wednesday 20 November. Carol singing begins from 2pm, the Lantern Parade runs from 4pm with local school children proudly showing off their works, with the countdown to the Christmas lights switch-on beginning just before 5pm. Have your cameras ready.
Saturday 23 November, 12 - 6pm
With a Santasaurus show, a Giant Snow Globe and the Citizens of the World Choir performing at 4.30pm, Woolwich Town Centre will be celebrating Christmas in style. Other free activities include cookie decorating, Christmas decorating making and the chance to meet Mickey and Minnie before the great Christmas light switch-on at 5pm.
Thursday 28 November to Sunday 1 December
Charlton Park, House and Gardens will be transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland once again this Christmas, at Sparkle in the Park, an event co-created with local residents. Explore stunning light installations, a Christmas market, fun fair and pop up performances. This magical installation is not to be missed. On the Sunday afternoon from 4.30pm a special quiet hour has been reserved for visitors with sensory sensitivities.
Saturday 30 November, 12 - 5pm
As well as the Royal Arsenal Winter Festival, a Christmas Crafternoon and a Gingerbread Greenwich, Woolwich Works has festive carols planned in Artillery Square and their Christmas Tree Light Up taking place at 4:45pm.
16 November 2024 - 5 January 2025
A glittering 10m-high Christmas tree, a weekend craft market and a plethora of shops and restaurants all bring the Christmas vibe to Greenwich Peninsula this winter. Add a special day-long calendar of creative workshops from gingerbread decorating, to candle-making and textile repairing, plus winter melodies by the Greenwich Music School Choir and DJ sets at Canteen Mezz from Loose FM and you have the recipe for a perfect day out.
