A night of live music with Joe Danks under the hull of Cutty Sark.

About

Live music is back at Cutty Sark!

Join in as former Royal Museums Greenwich Musician-in-Residence Joe Danks returns to perform his beautiful and buoyant album ‘Seaspeak’. Released in July 2021, ‘Seaspeak’ is an album conceived and created at Royal Museums Greenwich and recorded over two days in the Orangery at the Queen’s House.

Nottingham-born Danks has penned a selection of new songs inspired by stories and objects exhibited at the National Maritime Museum – from model ships to Turner’s famous ‘Battle of Trafalgar’ painting, commissioned by King George IV.

Having recently taken part in the brilliant online Up She Rises event, Joe Danks will be back on-board Cutty Sark for this unique opportunity to hear 'Seaspeak' in its perfect setting. He will be joined by musicians Jean Kelly, Danny Pedler and Sarah Matthews.

Expect songs of sailors, ships and war presented in a contemporary and unique new way with fiddle, hurdy gurdy, accordion and more. Join us for this amazing night of live music. There will also be an opportunity to view the Main Deck (weather provided) pre-performance!
