This October, celebrate Diwali at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.

Experience the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the Festival of Light, and enjoy an incredible range of free live music and performances, family activities, art displays and more.

This year's programme is curated by South Asian arts collective COMMONGROUND&. Explore themes of ritual and connect with friends, family and the community throughout the day, then join us as the Sun sets for an atmospheric light parade through Greenwich.

Highlights include...
Live performances from singer and digital artist Bishi, DJ collective Daytimers, and 'Hybrid Bharatanatyam' dancer Usha Jey.

Lantern parade and illuminations As the sun sets, follow the atmospheric lantern parade as it winds its way from the National Maritime Museum to the riverside lawns of the Old Royal Naval College. Take up a prime position to view the Diwali light show, lighting up the Old Royal Naval College colonnades and the iconic Queen’s House.

Workshops for the whole family, include Radical Rangoli by Sthuthi Ramesh Studio, making goddess-inspired jewellery with designer Anisha Parmar, and incense sampling with Temple of Incense.

Talks and tours, including a talk from Chef and author Mira Manek, sari drape demonstration from the Friday Sari Project and museum tours by Dr Aaron Jaffer, Curator of World Histories and Cultures at the National Maritime Museum.

This event will be hosted by BBC Asian Network presenter and comedian Parle Patel.
