The Blackheath Society has organised a free concert and the lighting of a beacon on the Heath to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee

About

The Blackheath Society has organised a free concert and the lighting of a beacon on the Heath to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.

Starting at 8:30pm, seven choirs, mainly from Blackheath Halls, will sing music from 70 years of the Queen’s reign. Each choir has chosen a song from one decade of the Queen’s reign in a varied programme including gospel, musical theatre and classical pieces.

At  9:30pm the Young Mayor of Lewisham will ceremonially light the beacon – one of a chain of over 1,500 beacons across the UK and the Commonwealth.
