About

Pancake Day 2024 means more than a bit of batter at Greenwich Market!

Mark Shrove Tuesday at Greenwich Market with celebrations sizzling from 11am to 4:30pm. Raising funds for Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice, a local charity close to the heart of the trading community, it’s to take place in Durnford Street, to the west of the Market. Hosted by a traditional, Cockney Pearly King and Queen from the neighbourhood, the big day will feature our famous pancake races, where the public compete alongside Market traders while flipping pancakes in frying pans. It’s good, silly fun, all in aid of a worthy cause!

Replenish calories burnt off in the race at one of the Market’s many wonderful world-food stalls or stay true to theme and just eat your fill of pancakes. Market favourite Planet Pancake’s fabulous mini pancakes would be a good place to start!
