Trinity Laban's Hans Koller presents a moving performance of Laß dir diesen Psalm gefallen, based on the religious poetry of his late father Dietrich

About

Trinity Laban's Hans Koller presents a moving performance of Laß dir diesen Psalm gefallen, based on the religious poetry of his late father Dietrich. The music is a meditation on selected psalms, composed specifically for the Trinity Laban Jazz Orchestra featuring the utterly unique and intrepid improvisers John O'Gallagher (alto saxophone), Tom Challenger (tenor saxophone) and Byron Wallen (trumpet) as soloists, in partnership with Trinity Laban's vocal ensemble Rubythroat, led by Linda Hirst.

This new, original large-scale work is inspired by Koller's ongoing fascination with Olivier Messiaen's Trois Petites Liturgies, George Russell's Lydian-Chromatic Concept, John O'Gallagher's 12 tone improv method, and the enduring folk music rootedness of jazz sensibility, rhythm, language and community.

Hans Koller is currently Associate Director (Music), Head of Jazz, and Interim Head of Percussion at Trinity Laban.
