Come to Woolwich Works and witness some fantastic comedians before they head to Edinburgh Fringe

About

Come on down to Woolwich Works to catch a glimpse of some up-and-coming comedians preparing for their upcoming shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023, line-up will include Aalex Mandel-Dallal, Will Robbins, Sam Coade, Leigh Douglas and Dom McGovern, and the evening will be hosted by So You Think You're Funny finalist Catalina Blackman.

Aalex Mandel-Dallal is a high-energy, uplifting observational comedian and writer who creatively mixes challenging subjects, like her lockdown breakdown with lighter things like her love of Blazing Squad to highlight the intricacies and crazy ups and downs of everyday life.

Will Robbins has been seen on ITV's Stand Up Sketch Show, BBC's DMs Are Open, and Comedy Central. He is also one half of TikTok sensation The Lovely Boys and is part of this year's Pleasance Comedy Reserve!

Sam Coade is an award-winning act whose warm stage presence and unique comedic voice mark him out as a rising star of the comedy world. He regularly performs at top comedy clubs across the UK, winning over crowds with his offbeat gags, whimsical stories, and impressively long limbs. He will be performing at Dragonfly at 2pm every day this August (excluding Mondays).
“One of the brightest gag writers to emerge in the last few years” - Laugh Train Home

Leigh Douglas is a queer Irish comedy gal based in London who makes jokes about lesbians, Disney princesses and the English. She relishes making the Brits laugh while educating them on a bit of Irish history. Her sitcom pilot script, Queer Jig, won the Female Writer’s Initiative with UKTV and Female Pilot Club and her short film, You’re Alright Hun won Best Short Short at London Independent Film Festival, Best Comedy at London Rocks Film Festival, Best Student Film at Dublin International Comedy Film Festival, Best Micro-Short at Women’s International Comedy Film Festival Atlanta, & Outstanding Comedy at Short & Sweet Film Festival.

Dom McGovern is an accomplished, energetic, fast paced comedian who covers topics including sexuality, politics, religion, and pop culture. His acclaimed standup career began in Australia where he was a finalist at Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious RAW Comedy competition, previous finalists include Hannah Gadsby, Ronnie Chieng, and Rhys Nicholson. In 2022 he placed as runner up in the OnlyFans Creative Fund Comedy Edition, which was judged by Mae Martin, Jamali Maddix and London Hughes. He's also the winner of King Gong at London's comedy store. He will be bringing his debut split bill hour 'tied for second' to the Edinburgh Fringe this August.

Catalina Blackman is a comic, naughty minx and actor. She can be played as Hippolyta in Total War: Troy, heard as the voice of the Hilton Hotel podcasts if you’ve ever been bored enough in one of their rooms to find it, and was a semi finalist in last year’s So You Think You’re Funny competition. She recently adopted an adorable puppy and so, technically, will not die alone.
