Join Royal Museums Greenwich for the annual World Oceans Day celebration.

Thought-provoking films and lively discussions take centre stage at the National Maritime Museum this World Oceans Day.

From family-friendly sessions with scientists working in the field to challenging short films exploring the climate crisis, this year's programme will encourage all of us to think differently about our ocean.

Programme:
Underwater Giants 
Time: 11:00am - 11:30am | Talk 
Learn about some of the ocean's most charismatic creatures with Jen Spacagna from the Manta Trust, who will be talking about manta and devil ray conservation and research work they do to help these ocean giants.

Mother of the Sea and Thank You Sea
Time: 11:30am - 11:50am | Films 
Mother of the Sea: Virtually every Inuit from Greenland to the Canadian Arctic knows this "living story" in some form or another. Telling this tale does more than scare children away from the dangerous ice -- it warns us all about the perils of disrespecting Mother Nature.
* Suitable for ages 7+

Ice, Water & Me
Time: 12:30pm - 1:00pm | Talk 
Leading glaciologist and environmentalist Dr Anna Crawford talks about the ice-ocean interactions in the era of climate change, looking at both the Arctic and the Antarctic.

My Dad is a Fisherman
Time: 1:30pm - 1:45pm | Film 
Overfishing is one of the most important issues our ocean currently faces. This short film touches on sustainable fishing and why it's so vital for the planet, for the current population and for future generations.

Forests of the Sea
Time: 2:00pm - 2:30pm | Talk 
Discover the wonderful world of algae with Professor Juliet Brodie, discussing all things seaweed and how we can help our underwater forests.
* Suitable for ages 7+

From the Wild Sea
Time: 3:00pm - 3:50pm | Film
This documentary film by director Robin Petré focuses on the complex and poetic relationship between humans and our ocean. The film follows the lives of marine animal rescue volunteers as they work tirelessly to help wildlife facing unprecedented threats spurred on by human action.
